I’m glad you and your loved ones are safe and well. As far as writing and other things; sometimes we just need mental health days (brain breaks). Although you weren’t super imposes by the hurricane it is still very stressful mentally and emotionally. Thanks for the referrals! I guess I’m sappy because I like Hallmark shows. Speaking of which- Bruce Campbell will be in one on Thanksgiving Day! (PS- I like the old worn journal better 😉) Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎆🎊🎈

Thank you, Catherine! I think mental health time could apply in this case, for sure. I also had a tooth pulled and while it wasn't anything worrysome (easy procedure), it was still a bit taxing mentally.

I had heard Bruce was going to be in a Hallmark movie and will definitely be checking that one out :)

I like that journal too but, sadly, the pages can't be switched out like a Traveler's Notebook, which I will be switching to for the new year.

Thank you and wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year as well and stay safe! :)

Great to hear what's been going on (yes, I'm a month late replying - sorry!) - glad you and yours are OK. Great journals, by the way - love a leather one! Though I tend to use a Luechturmm A5 bullet one ...

haha, no problem Bryan and thank you, I appreciate the thoughts!

I don't think I've heard of that sort of notebook. I plan on using my Traveler's this year, but will definitely give it a look for the future!

Glad to see you came out of the hurricane again unscathed. For the second time, we didn't lose power. There were some branches down in the area. The townhomes across the street had some large branches come down over the wall and onto the bike path. The beaches fared a lot worse than us. Melbourne Beach and Satellite Beach beaches were hit hard along with a bunch of other places around Brevard County.

Thank, Matthew! Glad to see you came through it o.k, as well with no damage and (especially) no loss of power. To me, that's one of the worst aspects of hurricane aftermath. My wife always tells me how after Francis and Gene they were without power for 2 weeks! Crazy stuff! :)

Great post, Mark! Glad you escaped harm from Hurricane Fiona. Lovely to see your notebook-in-waiting - as you know I use a Traveler's Company notebook as my everyday scrawler, but in the passport size.

I love a Christmas film! We watched the hilarious 'People we hate at the wedding' on Netflix last night - not Christmas-related, but not all that different to many Christmas films in that it involved people with issues getting together at an event, and followed the inevitable resulting chaos. I wondered why the script contained so much specifically-US English vernacular in the scenes involving only British characters in the scenes set in Britain, and 'rehearsal dinner' isn't even a thing over here, but I suppose I'm just being picky! I recommend it if you fancy a giggle. (Adult themes and language, don't watch with small people.)

Thanks, Rebecca! It's just something one has to deal with living in Florida, but we made it through :)

Yes, I thought about the passport sized notebooks from Traveler's but decided to go with the larger one because I wouldn't be carrying it around. The passport size is great for that, though, and a smart choice...especially for on the go.

I will have to look that film up. We got rid of Netflix (mainly due to rising prices and lack of use), but I'll see if I can find it out there somewhere. I didn't know the rehersal dinner was mainly a U.S. thing. Interesting! Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm sure the standard sized TN is perfect for desk use, Mark - you must let me know what it's like in practice. I like that it's square when it's opened out, but I've often wondered what its narrowness in its closed state feels like. My bullet journal notebook is A5 and I really get on well with that size - mind you, I guess we all love what we're used to!

I don't blame you for ditching Netflix - I often wonder about doing the same. It's a luxury we don't really need, and it's the monthly bill I feel most guilty about, tbh! Still, we don't really go out, and it's way cheaper than the pub or the cinema! 😀

It looks like it's about half (maybe) the size of an A5 because I looked at those as well before buying the standard size journal. I will let you know how it work in practice, though!

Netflix is still definitely cheaper than a night out and if we were using it more we would have kept it, but we have a couple other streaming services and seem to get more use from them. Still not a bad deal if you're using it :)

Believe it or not I have not watched a single episode of Doc Martin, but maybe I will now. I love the Cornwall scenery, and b used too watch a detective series set in Cornwall, called Wycliffe. Getting there from London takes about five hours, which is why we haven't been for years. Must go back! If you ever go there yourself, try a real Cornish pasty: you won't need to eat for a week.

Glad you're all ok post-hurricane. Good idea to stay somewhere safe r.

I think it's fine to have breaks from writing. We have to do what's right for the time, in my view.

Hope the book sales are going well.

Trust me when I say that, on first look, Doc Martin didn't really come across as my kind of show but once I started watching, I was hooked. I've heard of Wycliffe, but have never watched it. I did watch a few episodes of an older show called "Poldark" which is set in the same area, just in the 1800s. It didn't do much for me, but it wasn't terrible.

If I ever get across the pond, I will definitely make the trip to Cornwall and try a real Cornish pastry :)

Thanks for the well wishes, I appreciate them!

Wycliffe is definitely worth watching: very gentle, and beautiful scenery. Poldark never appealed to me at all.

So great to hear what’s going on in your world, Mark. I read a little of the T.E.M.P. Agency and hoping to get back into it during the holidays. We’ll have to check out the Hallmark series. I’m a sucker for those feel-good flicks!

Thank you very much, Holly. I appreciate that and hope you enjoy!

I'm totally NOT the demographic for those Hallmark movies but found myself really enjoying them, the more I watched. You'll like them :)

My husband and I usually catch a few of those cheesy movies during the holidays. I think we’d be surprised if there ever was a true study of who watches them!
